The role of a hero/heroine in the Greek religion
In Greeks, heroes were regarded as a mortal people who have done something that is far beyond the usual latitude of human experience and also left an everlasting memory behind in case they die and would, therefore, receive worship as other gods (Bremmer 2010.p.23). For that reason, this research essay will elaborate on the role of a hero or heroine in the Greek religion.
Heroes in ancient Greek were viewed as helpers, more so to a greater level than the gods. Because they were once a human being, who walked on the part of the earth (Bremmer 2010.p.25). Furthermore, they are more likely connected to a particular location. Most cases of threats or war, heroes were the once to be approached as they would help or act in accordance, but at times they would appear in the war mostly to participate in the battle (Coldstream 2011.p.40). During the fight of the longwinded in 490 BC Heracles and the eponymous heroine of entire location was one of the heroes who fought for the Greek religion. Also, the Echetlaus a figure that was more dresses as a peasant and fighting a farmer with a ploy. Hence, such sightings may result in an institution of a cult. While some heroes were termed as a curse in the society as they would send diseases to people or left bad omen among their families (Coldstream 2011.p.42).
