Inclusion/ Exclusion Criteria

  • In order to be able to include a wide variety of articles, inclusion criteria were kept lenient. All articles which mentioned breastfeeding practices in rural India were included in this review. Additionally, articles which spoke about perceptions regarding breastfeeding in rural India, termination of breastfeeding along with providing reasons for the same were also included in the review.
  • Exclusion criteria on the other hand were kept stringent in order to ensure that the review does not deviate from the topic and only relevant research material is used. Articles with commented on breastfeeding practices where either the mother or the baby was terminally ill were excluded from the review. Further, articles which commented on breastfeeding practices but were not limited to rural India were also excluded from the review.
