1.0 Introduction
It cannot be denied that the environment across the globe is changing rapidly. With these significant changes, the need of becoming aware of the problems is increasing. Interaction of human with the environment is constant. The environment has been defined by the World Health Organisation as external physical, chemical and biological factors and its related behaviors. Therefore, the objectives of the Healthy People 2020 Environment Health include Outdoor air quality, Surface and groundwater quality, Toxic substances, Homes and Communities, Global Environment Health etc. Our environment is at the edge of serious environmental crisis. This environmental issue makes the health of the population unprotected to calamities now and in the near future as well. The major current problems in the Environment are such as Population, Global Warming, Overpopulation, Natural Resource Depletion, Waste Disposal, Climate Change, Loss of Biodiversity, Deforestation, Ocean Acidification, Ozone layer Depletion, Water pollution, Acid Rain, etc. The present environmental issues create a lot of threats to the health of the public(Environmental Health,2014). The paper discusses the environmental issues being faced in Delhi, its causes, and the policies which are being undertaken by the local and national government to control the increasing pollution and its environmental impacts.
