Organizational Governance and Leadership

Introduction

To be a leader means that the person is able to have an influential impact on the behavior of subordinates and to be persuasive towards them on following certain mannerisms and certain courses of action with a sense of genuine confidence and zeal (Dhingra, Gupta and Gupta, 2013). In this case, the report focuses on a case study on Chris Peterson who is the leader of the Southwest Regional Team at an organization known as DSS. She has a very good hand at consultancy and is extremely efficient when it comes to her job. However, on the cancellation of her latest project due to different views from members of other regions after they had shown no interests in the new products that she and her team had tirelessly worked on (Bethel, 2012). The effort she had put on the project was not reciprocated as she expected but she still had a chance to lead the team for other projects. She has an option of either leading the group in a new direction or getting back to her post as an IT practice group functional specialist which will see her as part of the subordinates rather than the one who makes the rules.

Literature Review

DSS Consulting shows a great deal of potential towards growth and being an influential company. However, the strategies that are used for growth need to be improved by a leader with knowledge on what is really needed to improve the organizational structure (Bethel, 2012). What makes a leader different from a manager in such an organization is very clear and for DSS to see that means that there has to be a person who is present in both organized and un-organized teams and groups.  The leader has to be aware of the level and type of authority they have over subordinates (Robbins et al, 2013).
