NSG2IIH Indigenous and Intercultural Health

Part A:
I live in Truganina whose postcode is 3029. Truganina, which is a suburban with local governments in the City of Wyndham advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ right to self-determination and hence, its acknowledgement of tradition is based on that of Wyndham. I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Kulin Nation. I celebrate its rich Indigenous history, the diversity of its people and their important on-going connections to Country. I acknowledge the past injustices faced by my First Peoples and are committed to play my part in ensuring that these injustices are not repeated. I appreciate that I still have a long journey ahead of me.
Part B:The relationship of Country to the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians
Australia comprises of two groups of people; the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander Australians. According to study carried by Trewin and Madden (2005), it was evident that though the two groups of people have a significant difference in the culture identity, there is some degree of similarity in some of the features when compared with the indigenous Australians. For example, Torres Strait Islanders play a significant role as far as the development of the country (Trewin & Madden, 2005). However, this diversity does not have any role in the extent of services, such as education, health and employment, that the Australians receive; in fact, reports have indicated that health care services for Australians are very expensive. Such a conditions calls for the need to ensure that there is improved indigenous wellbeing in the country.
