In the altering business environment, the role of the employees has been changed. Due to this reason, the concept of “one-size-fits-all” is not acceptable. Therefore, organizations are now looking towards the talent development through the help of the adult learning principles (Brookfield & Holst, 2010). Followings are the main principles of adult learning which are explained below:
Need to Know: adults want to learn experience for meeting their needs because of their help in achieving goals.
Self-concept: Adult sets their self-concept towards own learning that can help to get.
Experience of Learner: for an organization, adult learners are main assets due to their efforts to bring a richness and diversity in personal life (Drago-Severson & Blum-DeStefano, 2018). They can be better if they get the opportunity for using their existing experience and knowledge.
Readiness to Learn: Adults learners want effective learning methods due to their goal focused nature. They also want to get meaningful learning experience to develop a clear understanding towards the problem.
Orientation to Learning: An adult learner wants to engage in the problem-centered or life-centered learning experience to know that how they can be able to perform a task effectively or can address the problems in the life.
Motivation: it reflects towards the external motivating factors in the term of the responsive behavior of the adult towards the increment in salary and a better job. There are some internal motivator factors also that are job satisfaction, heightened self-esteem, improvement in the quality of life and development and growth at the personal level.
