Introduction
The research objective was to compare the annual autumn(Mar, Apr, May) rainfall value at four locations , which are (i) Albany, Station Number 009500; (ii) Pemberton, Station Number 009592; (iii) Bunbury, Station Number 009965; and Manjimup Station Number 009573. Understanding the variation of the annual autumn rainfall at each site and select the lower rainfall are important to establish a second marron farm.
Methods
The data was obtained from the Bureau of Meteorology website[1]. For each site there is one observation for each year along the period 1997 – 2015 (inclusive), so there are 4 × 19 = 76 observations in total. Before conducting an ANOVA test to establish whether or not there are differences in the group means, the assumption of same variance for all locations was tested by using the Bartlett test. The null hypothesis for this test is that the group variances are equal; against the alternate hypothesis the groups have different variances. For the ANOVA test the null hypothesis is that all the group means are the same, and the alternate hypothesis is that all the group means are not the same. To identify specific differences in the group means t-tests were conducted. The null hypothesis for this test is that there is no difference between the two group means; against the alternate hypothesis is that the two group means are different. For all tests the level of significance alpha was set at 0.05. To control for multiple t-test comparisons, the holm adjustment was used….
