A review of Composites Coatings by Cold Spray Technique
Abstract
In cold gas spray or generally cold spray (CS) powder solids are sprayed through a nozzle on the substrate. If the spray velocity is greater than the threshold velocity the matter subjected to the plastic deformation and coated into the surface. Through the CS technique different materials can be coated on the surface, which lead to create different properties on the surface. It is one of the promising techniques to get coating on the surface. It has different engineering advantages than thermal coating. Here the kinetic motion is used for coating than the thermal energy. So different unwanted phenomena, such as oxidation, chemical side reaction and residual thermal stress can be avoided. Cols spraying technique have a rich variety of combination of material. This review considers the combination of the different material system and their novel application in different field of engineering. This includes metal, composite of metal matrix, ceramic deposits and their novel applications. Polymers and the metal embedded polymer system are also discussed.
A thorough analysis on the fate of the technology is given in this report.

Introduction
Cold spray technology: basic principles
In cold gas spray or generally cold spray (CS) powder solids are sprayed through a nozzle on the substrate with the geometry of converge and diverge technology. The coating particle is sprayed on the substrate at the average speed of 300 to1000 m/s. The design and construction of nozzle and the nature of the powder coating is main parameter to identify the final temperature and the speed of the ejection which is again related with the structure of the coating and properties. The gas phase temperature should be below the melting point of the material. So it is consider as the solid deposition process.
