Job stress and Job satisfaction
In recent times, increasing changes in the content and organization of work have resulted in an intensification of work, which is regarded as a cause of stress. Globalization of the economy and the related changes in technology has led to modification in the work pattern across the globe. In relationtothesechanges in the business environment, there have been increase in the reliance on computer technology and other modern-day technology.Thisin turn has resulted in increased pace of work with increased diversity in the work environment (Sonnentagand Fritz 2015). These changes in the business environment have resulted in more stress on job which have also impacted job satisfaction. Job stress refers to as uncertaintiesand pressure on an individual due to this work place and relates activities. This work pressure usually arises when work given to an employee do not alignwith the skills, knowledge, experience of that individual. This way the person is not able to cope up with the stress which in turn hampers his personal development and growth. This results in high employee absenteeism, low productivity, high employee turnover. In addition to this, job satisfaction is another factor that is directly affected by job stress. When the employee feels stressed while working in a company, there will be job dissatisfaction.
The aim of the essay is to discuss the relation between job stress and job satisfaction by evaluating the effect of increased stress at work on the level of satisfactionderived by an individual. The essay also aims at discussing the ways in which this can be prevented. The following paragraphs will discuss the effects of job stress on the level of job satisfaction. Further, the subsequent paragraphs will also discuss the ways in which this job dissatisfaction can be prevented at work by employing various tools, strategies and tactics.
Job satisfaction refers to as to the degree at which an employee feels positive or negative about his job or work or even his organization. If an employee enjoys his work and is willing to put all his efforts in making his output better, he is deemed to be highly satisfied with his work. Whereas in case, an employee does not find his work interesting or is not happy in working in the same manner, he is considered to be dissatisfied with his job (Tongchaiprasitand Ariyabuddhiphongs2016). The level of stress that an employee experience at work determines the level of satisfaction enjoyed by him. In the past decades, there has been a change in the nature of work resulting in job stress and thereby impacting job satisfaction.
