Therapeutic Nursing
Introduction
Caring is fundamental in nursing practice, allowing nurses to develop their understanding and application on the therapeutic use of self. This is one of the most important principles that a nurse should carry-out while they are attending their patients. The application of therapeutic use of self is always established between the patient and the nurse as their primary health care provider. Nurses always ensure that the health of their patients is secured while undergoing rehabilitation inside a health care institution such as hospitals (Manning, 2014). This paper aims to outline characteristics of therapeutic nursing and describes how skills can be implemented to increase the therapeutic value of nursing care within the operating institution. It seeks to find out the significance of therapeutic application in nursing process to promote the health and well-being of the patients who are currently under treatment, assessment, or rehabilitation.
As for the background, therapeutic nursing is a process wherein it fosters a therapeutic nurse and patient relationship to build up mutual trust and respect with each other. It nurtures hope and faith by the nurses by becoming an advocate to the patient so that their physiological, psychological, and mental needs are being addressed on a regular basis that is also applied by other members of the allied health care team.
