Letter of Transmittal
To Madam Belinda Green, CEO, Brisbane Outdoor Power Center,
Enclosed is the report you commissioned on 28th September 2016 concerning the purchasing and inventory procedures adopted by the three Brisbane retail stores.
The main findings of this report are:
- There is indeed an irregularity in the supply chain management of inventory to the Brisbane stores, particularly, the Mt Gravatt and Ipswich branches
- This report identifies a demand driven supply chain management system to be the main cause of the uncoordinated inventory management procedures
- The identified problems can be solved through material management. This report focuses on four parameters of material management, namely: purchasing management, inventory control, simplification and value analysis.
It should be acknowledged that majority of the recommendations made by this report are already in application in the Strathpine branch of Brisbane, where, until recently, you were branch manager. I would like to acknowledge the cooperation and contributions of the purchasing and inventory managers at the Mt Gravatt and Ipswich branches in ensuring the successful completion of this report.
